Saw Mill Road Moodboards
Well hi! Just hopping onto the blog today to share some things I’m really excited about - the preliminary moodboards for my Saw Mill Road project. It’s a historic home with tons of charm that just feels really good to be in. There’s a kind of comfortable, cozy-in-and-stay-a-while vibe that I obviously can’t get enough of. We’re going to be renovating the kitchen and opening it up to the dining room, and the goal is to keep as much charm as we can! Here’s what I brought to our moodboard review meeting:
I wanted to get a sense of which direction the homeowners were most comfortable taking, and we landed somewhere around the “historic contemporary blend”. I’d love to use a wallpaper in the kitchen to pay homage to kitchens of the past in a home like theirs (and told them about the wild cherry paper in my own home, sitting behind the bead board from the 50s or so). The Cle tile backsplash was a hit, as was the classic checkerboard flooring. We’ll probably stick with a wood floor here, but in these early phases I like to explore all of the options! The Nelson Saucer Pendant was also a big hit, and is a product I feel particularly keen to use.
Next up, they’ll pick out their appliances and we’ll start working through the actual layout of the kitchen itself. I like to introduce the moodboards as early as possible, so that everyone has plenty of time to let ideas flow! In the meantime I’ll be ordering samples of all our potential finishes so that we can begin narrowing down our narrative.
I’m so excited about this project and it just proves to me that even the smallest jobs I take on have the potential to have a wonderfully special place in my heart. I’m trying to be better about updating the blog so you can follow along!
Until next time,
Nicki
