Natural Holiday Decor Ideas

Hi everyone!

It might be a little late for this post, but I have faith that there are others out there who have yet to decorate for the holidays and need some help. While I do celebrate Christmas by rite of passage (rather than religious affiliation), this year I am also finding ways to celebrate Yule, or the Winter Solstice. My spiritual beliefs are directly connected to my relationship with the earth and Mother Nature, and it only felt right to explore another reason to love and be grateful for this time of year.

Whether you honor Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, nothing at all, or any other day, it can feel wonderfully festive and warm to decorate your dwelling to reflect the season.

My recipe for holiday decor typically is a combination of: freshly cut greenery, twinkly lights, an evergreen tree, branches, and red berries. If I had the time and energy this year, I would have loved to explore making decorations with dehydrated citrus slices, cinnamon, and ribbons!

Here are some other incredible ideas if you’re looking to decorate your home in a natural, simple way:

1. Laid Back Greenery

This incredibly pretty, soft, and subtle decor fits perfectly in this cottagey farmhouse. It is such a dream!

2. Garlands and Candlesticks

Holiday layering at it’s finest… you can’t go wrong with evergreens, aged brass, and a little warmth.

3. Window Wreaths

Talk about the beauty of simplicity. Exterior window wreaths are equally wonderful, but having them inside is much cozier.

4. Pine Cones and a Mini Evergreen Plant

This twist on a classic feels so elevated. Using a non-evergreen garland is unexpected, and adds a little extra something to the lovely pine cone and mini-tree combo.

5. Neutral, Glittery Tree

Probably the least “natural” decor on the list, this one is for those earthy but glitzy folk out there. Who says you can’t have both?!

6. Picture Frame Ribbons

Such a neat idea by Erin Conway of Kismet House. Velvet ribbon is such a mood and works so well with traditional artwork and frames!

7. Homemade Ornaments!

One of the cutest ideas I’ve seen so far this year. Definitely need to set aside a whole afternoon for crafting, but the result is pretty damn magical.
