My Interior Design Master’s Thesis (Part II)

Hello again! I hope everyone was able to enjoy their weekend and do something they love before heading back into the work week. It feels like I was moving nonstop, between picking up some new used furniture and getting the house in order this weekend flew by!

Part II of this (actually 6 part) blog series is going to show the ground level of my thesis project. This floor gave me the most trouble because I had to balance a massive, mysterious form with a peaceful and soothing lobby. I ended up customizing a bench/water feature that provided a place to land while waiting to check in to the academy. Scroll down to see how it came out!

A quiet and peaceful place to check into your stay. Off to the right you can see the stairs wrap around a black volume that continues up to the second level.

The transitional space around the black void allows for a picture perfect interaction with the sky and lake beyond.

Tomorrow I’ll bring you down to the basement level, which ended up being one of my favorite aspects of the project :)

Til then,

Nicki
